Rural development projects are expected to be accelerated towards the end of this year with $5 million worth of machinery arriving from China to assist in the projects.
Speaking from China, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said the government is grateful to China for the grant which includes heavy machinery like tractors and bulldozers that will assist in infrastructure projects.
Commodore Bainimarama confirmed that current Deputy Director for FICAC, Lieutenant Colonel George Langman who is the most qualified and experienced engineer in the RFMF will lead the Engineering Squadron to use the machinery to carry out the rural development projects from later this year.
The Prime Minister said a suitable person will soon be appointed to replace Lieutenant Colonel Langman at FICAC.
