A sick sheet scam has resulted in 58 workers losing their jobs.
The employees are from the Ministry of Works in the Central Eastern Division and they were obtaining medical certificates without any physical examination.
Spokesperson, Sainiana Radrodro said the letters of termination are effective from today.
She added that this practice has been ongoing and they now no longer allow employees to get their medical certificate from the doctor concerned.
Another set of employees are still to be interviewed and investigations continue as part of the second phase, and this will see some being suspended and some given warning letters for their involvement in monitoring this kind of practices.
The investigations were conducted with the Ministry of Health.
