There are 58 evacuation centres open throughout the country.

The Central Division has 10, the Eastern Division has 38 while the Western and Northern Division has 5 each.

A total number of 844 people are taking shelter in these evacuation centres.

This has been revealed by Director of DISMAC, Akapusi Tuifagalele.

He says there has been a dramatic increase in the number of households living in tents after verification from the Western Division.

He says there are 223 families living  in tents in the Central Division, in the Eastern there are  224, in the Northern is 158, while the West has increased to 2475, bringing the total number of households living in tents 3090.

Previously the figure that was given was 718.

Tuifagalele says they have not received any reports of any injuries from the Qamea landslide.

He has advised the public to be cautious and take heed of warnings as a flood warning is still in place in low lying areas.
