A 54-year-old farmer of Naweni Village, Savusavu died following a motor vehicle accident that occurred between Dromoninuku and Viani Village Road in Savusavu early this morning.
The victim who was walking along the road at around 2am was allegedly hit by a taxi driven a 28-year-old man of Wailevu.
The suspect is in custody and it is alleged that he was driving under the influence of alcohol when the alleged incident occurred.
The road death toll currently stands at 66 compared to 57 for the same period last year.
