The Walk On Walk Strong Committee is now calling on the Fiji Cancer Society to resolve it's internal issues as it is stopping the promised assistance to the children living with cancer and their parents.

Walk On Walk Strong Fiji Chairman, Makrava Wilson said all their plans are on hold because of serious internal problems within the Fiji Cancer Society.

Wilson revealed that WOWS cannot access its funds held in a Fiji Cancer Society and WOWS bank account with joint signatories.

He is calling on the Cancer Society to resolve it's problems so that the children living with cancer and their parents can be assisted immediately.

When questioned by Fijivillage, Wilson confirmed that all the funds amounting to half a million dollars is secure to assist the children living with cancer however they cannot be accessed due to the freezing of the bank accounts after problems in the Fiji Cancer Society.

We have contacted Acting President of the Fiji Cancer Society, Doctor Tukaha Mua and asked when the children living with cancer and their parents will be assisted.

We also asked Doctor Mua why the Cancer Society has been unable to resolve it's problems as it is now causing serious issues for Walk On Walk Strong who want to go ahead with their plans.

Doctor Mua said all the records of the Fiji Cancer Society are now erased and they cannot go ahead with their planned AGM on June 15th which would have seen the election of the new office bearers and things normalising for the Cancer Society.

The former President and Treasurer of the Cancer Society who were the signatories of the accounts have been removed however Doctor Mua maintains this is not the main problem.

Fijivillage has been told that the accounts have been frozen to protect the funds.

Doctor Mua is in the dark on how this happened.

Doctor Mua has also informed the Police about the erasing of their records.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro confirmed that the Cyber Crime Unit is now looking into the matter.

Although the WOWS funds amounting to $500,000 are safe in the account, they will remain frozen until all these matters are addressed.

This means that all the major planned projects for the children living with cancer would also have to wait.

WOWS confirmed that individual members are currently digging into their own pockets to attend to the immediate needs of the children and their parents.

Wilson also said WOWS is now well advanced with an initiative for it to function independently of the Fiji Cancer Society.

He said WOWS needs to be able to fully control it's own affairs.
