Beating the sun, rain, stench from indisposed rotting flooded household items, a medical team from the USA has so far provided more than $50,000 worth of medical relief in the flood affected areas in Nadi and Ba.
The Fiji AID International Coordinator Damyenti Chandra said the team of two doctors and three nurses have conducted front porch clinics in most of the areas including Raviravi and Koronubu in Ba as well as Korovotu, Nadi Back Road, Nawaka, Kareras and Votualevu.
Chandra said they see 60 to 70 people daily out of which every 12 to 14 patients are suffering from Diarrheoa, dengue or joint pains.
She said they also came across one patient with Leptospirosis who could not go to the doctor and he was taken to Nadi hospital by her team.
She said many children are also sick.
The team will be in the country for another two weeks.
