5,000 seedlings are going too handed out next Monday to boarding schools in the Western Division.

The Ministry of Youth reveals that they will not be having a normal National Youth Day Celebration but will be visiting the schools affected by the floods earlier this year.

Assistant Divisional Youth Officer Valami Nima said they will be visiting 12 schools in total ranging from Sigatoka Valley High School to Nawaicoba Secondary School and be giving out the seedlings.

Nima adds they will be plowing and planting the seedlings as floods have destroyed a lot of plantations.

The 12 schools will get fast growing and high yielding crops like tomatoes, eggplants, etc.

The same has been planned for the Northern Division where youths will also be heading out to clean and repair hostels and schools affected by the heavy rain and flooding last month.

National Youth Day is on the 20th of next month.
