The Hurricanes have stood down five star players ‑ including Julian Savea, Ardie Savea, Cory Jane and Victor Vito ‑ from playing against the Reds on Saturday.
The quartet, along with reserve prop Chris Eves are said to have broken "the team's self‑imposed curfew" during their just‑completed tour to South Africa.
The five players were late back to the team hotel before the side played the Sharks and have been stood down for one match.
Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd said the players had made a poor decision and the matter had been dealt with internally.
The Hurricanes play the Reds at 7.35pm Saturday.
