Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry said the interim regime cannot restore the 5 percent pay cut of the nurses as the full restoration would mean paying out all the civil servants which would equate to over 30 million tax dollars.
Chaudhry said the interim regime has agreed to some of the Fiji Nursing Association's demands, but there is no room for negotiations on the pay cut restoration as they can only restore 1 percent in December.
Chaudhry also sent a message to the striking nurses that they should realize that the interim regime is firm in its decision.
