Fiji has received more than 5 million dollars so far from other countries to help out after the January floods.

In the Consolidated Report on the January Flash Floods, it was stated that the total amount of relief assistance given to Fiji by the US, China, Tonga, India, AUSAid, NZAid, UNDP, Korea and PNG was $5,175,000.

This money was given for the payment of vouchers, relief assistance for school children affected and rations to NGOs like the Red Cross, ECREA, FWCC, FRIENDS and Save the Children amongst others.

Meanwhile, the Taskforce of Permanent Secretaries formed to oversee the rehabilitation and rebuilding work yesterday held a meeting whereby each sector and its reports and recommendations were looked at.
