Five men are still in custody at the CID Headquarters after they were caught in possession of two plastic bags of white powder namely Contact-NT which is used to manufacture hard drugs like cocaine and heroin.

Police are now trying to establish whether the five locals are allegedly involved in a major drug racket.

The five were arrested at the premises of a shipping company yard in Edinburgh Drive yesterday when they went to collect the white powder.

The two plastic bags of white powder were discovered in a shipping container which came in from abroad.

Assistant Spokesperson, Sergeant Suliano Tevita said the five were arrested after information by the police Drug Unit yesterday afternoon and remain in custody at the CID Headquarters in Toorak.

He said the investigation is now focused on the group these people are linked with, and whether they are using Fiji as a transit point for drug paddling.
