Five people have been taken into custody after Rakiraki police discovered dried leaves believed to be marijuana in their possession.

Assistant Police Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the five were coming back from a farmhouse in Rakiraki yesterday when they were stopped by police officers.

Inspector Sokomuri said police officers received a call that these people were allegedly carrying drugs with them and when police officers stopped the vehicle and conducted a search, they discovered 2kg dried leaves believed to be marijuana in a 50 kg bag.

The five are being questioned at Rakiraki police station while the dried leaves have been sent to Koronivia Research station for analysis.
