Five people have been remanded in custody over the death of a former Fiji resident, 54 year old Edward Spowart at the Granville Train Station in Sydney's West two weeks ago.

The five include two 17 year olds, a 16 year old, a 19 year old and a 28 year old man who have been charged separately with attempted murder, murder, unlawful violence and concealing a serious offence.

54 year old Spowart who migrated to Australia in the late 1980's was a cable fitter and lived with his sister, was attacked by a group of people in the early hours of last Monday morning.

The five allegedly stabbed Spowart to death when he told them he did not smoke after he was approached for a cigarette.
