Five people including two juveniles appeared in the Suva Magistrates court charged with the alleged murder of a 22-year-old Tongan student.

Nauru students Julien Henrich, Jameson Agir and Bouncer Quading have been remanded in custody until this afternoon where a decision on their bail application is expected to be made.

Divisional Prosecuting Officer Mohammed Yunus informed Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili that this is a serious offence and asked for the matter to be transferred to the High Court.

Lawyers representing the Nauru students Taina Leweni and Romanu Vananalagi applied for bail applications and said that the three are students and will be sitting for their exams in the next two weeks.

The case will be called at 2.30pm.

The Tongan student was allegedly involved in a brawl with a group of men who assaulted him.

The 22-year-old was rushed to the hospital but he passed away.
