A five year old record has been broken in the track event as the FMF Chow Primary Schools Athletics finals continues at the National Stadium.

Suva district's Elenoa Sailosi broke the record in the Under 13 Girls 200 metres heats.

She finished the race in a time of 26 seconds.

The old record stood at 26.3 seconds set by Sera Tuinalase in 2003.

More records are expected to tumble in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Suva district is now on the medal table after disappointing results in the Girls 1500 metres finals this morning.

They have won a gold medal in the Under 9 Girls Long Jump final, and are now expected to win more medals by this afternoon in the field events.

The girls division is currently been led by Taveuni with 1 gold and 1 bronze.

Both their medals coming from the Girls 1500 metres finals.

Kadavu, Nadi and Suva have one gold medal each.

Taveuni also leads the boys division so far with 1 gold and 1 silver after the boy’s 1500 metres finals.

In the boys division, Nadroga and Kadavu also have one gold medal each.
