4x100m finals expected to be a thriller
This is how our commentators Ravi Sharma and Master Mika described the heats that just took place.
The next gold medals up for grabs will be in the 800mtrs finals.
The decision of who will be the winner in both the girls and boys division is still wide open as we enter into the second day of competition at the Coca Cola Games.
There are a total of 46 Gold medals at stake in today’s games with a total of 33 in the tracks and 13 in the field.
The defending champions in the girls division ACS who are trying to make it 10 years in a row are facing difficulty especially since ACS lost in the 3000m where Melaia Bola of Wainimaktu Secondary took out the Gold, silver going Meresieni Naidau of Nadarivatu Secondary and Laisaini Cawai of Ba Santan college taking Bronze.
Meanwhile, favourite and ACS Golden girl Akesa Drotini was not placed in the race.
This is second race where Drotini failed to grab any medal as yesterday in 1500m she was not placed as well.
Games organiser, Vuli Waqa said today competition will be really tough.
Earlier on the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association overturned the decision to re-run one of the 200mtrs heats featuring Banuve Tabakaucoro this morning.
Chief Organiser Vuli Waqa confirmed that a protest was filed by Queen Victoria School in relation to the start of heat number 3 where they claimed that Marist Brothers Banuve Tabakaucoro made a false start.
Waqa confirmed that the re-run that was suppose to take place this morning due to unfair circumstances, will not take place, and the results stand as they are.
