A $450 million tourism development project which includes a 5-star resort that is expected to create 1,000 jobs and inject more than $70 million in foreign earnings for the country is the latest tourism craze in Fiji.

The Naisoso Island master plan was launched last night and Managing Director Bob Lowres said construction on the island in Nadi has started with Stage one being financed by ANZ and supported by the Fiji Development Bank and it should be completed by December.

Lowres said the island has generated more than $65 million worth of unconditional home site sales from investors.
