A total of 44 schools have been affected by the floods in the west, north and central divisions.

These figures are from the latest reports from the District Education Offices in these areas.

The reports submitted by the various teams have shown that amongst items destroyed are textbooks, office and science equipment, furniture and teaching and learning resources and in some cases expensive workshop tools and science equipment.

The assessed cost of damages as of yesterday is slightly under a million dollars and the Education Ministry said they standby ready to begin rehabilitation work once all reports and costs are confirmed.

Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole continues his visitation of schools in the western division.
