The Ministry of Education today provided 415 schools with their term one school grants.

Permanent Secretary, Dr Brij Lal confirmed 401 primary schools and 14 secondary schools are the first batch of schools to receive the grants.

He said a total of $6,997,365 was deposited into the respective school bank accounts.

The grants will be used for administration and office operation, building and compound maintenance, IT, computers and vocational materials, Library books and text books, physical education, arts, music and science equipment and stationery.                                                                  
Lal added the heads of the eligible schools still need to submit their audited report for 2013 by 31st May to ensure they receive their allocations for terms two and three on time.

He said by next Friday all 898 eligible schools will receive the grants.
