The 40th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament kicked off this hour.

With a total of 64 teams taking part in the two day tournament, the Marist 7s boasts itself as the biggest tournament in the country.

48 teams will compete in the men’s category with defending champion, Tabadamu Red.

President of the Marist Rugby Club and Chairman Lawrence Tikaram said it is also a special tournament with the Rio Olympics coming up later this year.

This may also be the last chance for some players to try and impress Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan as he puts together a team for the Olympics.

Reigning champion Tabadamu Red kicks off the Marist 7s tournament taking on New Born Waibasaga Rugby Club at the ANZ Stadium.
