More than 10 villages and settlement several kilometers outside Sigatoka town will no longer have to worry about access to health services during times of natural disaster and emergencies after a fund of $400,000 Fijian dollars was provided for the construction of a new nursing station.

The existing Loma Nursing station was severely damaged during flood last year and extensive damages were caused to the equipment, furniture and stock of pharmaceuticals.

Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Iliesa Tora said construction work is expected to start earliest by next week.

The new nursing station will now be located on higher grounds and people living along Loma, Narewa, Nasovatava, Naduri, Nakalavo and Nakabuta will have access to health services at any time.

The Australian Aid Programme provided 400,000 Fijian dollars for the construction work and Counsellor Sarah Goulding said they have not forgotten the devastation caused by last years flood and this shows their commitment to assist people of Fiji.
