A victorious Crusaders squad has flown in four players as injury cover following their 20 14 success against the Stormers.

Brent Ward, Ryan Crotty, Steve Alfeld and Tom Taylor join the squad after Israel Dagg suffered injury, Sean Maitland a foot problem while Kahn Fotuali'i has a medial ligament knee injury and Adam Whitelock tore a pectoral muscle.

Crusaders will play Cheetahs at 5.10am this Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders have been hit by a substantial blow after New Zealand back row forward Adam Thomson and half of the backline succumbed to injury.

Head Coach Jamie Joseph has subsequently been left with a depleted squad following their 20 7 defeat to the Chiefs over the weekend.

Highlanders play Hurricanes at 7.35pm this Friday.
