The Public Service Commission has announced the appointment of four new Permanent Secretaries while three others have been re-appointed.
PSC Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi confirmed that Saipora Mataikabara is the new permanent secretary for Trade and Industry, Jale Fotofili is the new Permanent Secretary for Defence, National Security and Immigration and Elizabeth Powell is the new Permanent Secretary for Public Enterprise, Tourism and Communication.
The new Permanent Secretary for Education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Youth and Sports is Dr. Brij Lal.
The four have been appointed on a three year term.
Serulagilagi also confirmed that Govind Sami has been re-engaged on a 18 month contract as Permanent Secretary for Women and Social Welfare and Social Welfare while Manasa Vaniqi has been reappointed as the PS for Provincial Development, Multi Ethnic Affairs, National Disaster Management and Sugar.
Taina Tagicakibau has been re-assigned to the post of Permanent Secretary for Local Government, Urban development, Housing and Environment on her exsisting three year contract.
Serulagilagi said the PSC undertook a thorough and independent processing of the applications before the names were forwarded to the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama for concurrence.
