Four men will be sentenced tomorrow in relation to the cultivation of marijuana in the Navosa highlands.

Iliesa Soqali, Savenaca Kulanisa, Serupepeli Wesivakarua and Salesi Tukana have pleaded guilty to the unlawful Cultivation of Illicit Drugs.

They appeared in the Sigatoka Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Six other people also appeared in court and they have pleaded not guilty to their charges.

Apolosi Kurikoro, Tomasi Tubunibua, Semi Tabaiwalu, Kuridroa Kolikoli, Mikaele Sovea and Jone Kolikoli have been remanded in custody and their case has been adjourned to the 4th of next month.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said an aerial view would be considered to look for more marijuana farms.

He said the option of doing an aerial view during Operation Cavuraka may be looked into if information about marijuana farms continues to come in.

Qiliho made this comment during his visit to the Operation team in Navosa.

He said they may hire helicopters to do aerial surveys if the need arises as they need to locate and destroy these farms.

Operation Cavuraka has so far uprooted more than 32,000 marijuana plants found on 15 farms and the team consisting of officers from both the Fiji Police and Republic of Fiji Military Forces continue to trek the highlands of Navosa in search of more farms.

Proceeds of crime have also been seized during the operation from those suspected to be involved in this illegal trade.

The Commissioner of Police has also asked his Divisional Police Commanders to go hard on the issue of drugs.
