4 charged with visa scam dismissed
Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku dismissed the case after raising concerns in the delays in prosecuting the case and the constant absence of the Prosecution who he was informed was to be done by FICAC.
However, in a statement this afternoon FICAC said while charges were laid by its officers, as per the Powers of the Deputy FICAC Commissioner the matter was then transferred to the Police Commissioners Office for the DPP's Office to prosecute the case in October last year.
FICAC said whether the file reached the DPP's office, it does not know.
The DPP's Office confirms to Village news that the file in question has not been sent to them for action while the Police Commissioners Office also said that they have no knowledge of the file.
The whereabouts of the prosecution file in the case remains unknown.
The four were earlier charged after allegations that they colluded to forge fake Fiji visa's to enter the country and conduct certain businesses.
