Four Asian Nationals have been detained at the Nadi International Airport by the Border Control Police after they were allegedly found with a large amount of jewellery which they brought from China early this morning.

Divisional Crime Officer Western, ASP Luke Rawalai confirms the four are currently being questioned and they are trying to establish if the four had declared with the Customs Department to bring such a large amount of jewellery in the country.

According to ASP Rawalai, some Asian nationals in the Western Division are under investigation for allegedly selling fake jewellery at high prices.

He adds they are trying to establish if the four that have been detained are allegedly supplying the fake jewellery to Fiji.

Rawalai confirms they are also investigating a matter where a local bought $60,000 worth of jewellery from an Asian national which were fake.

The jewellery scam involves people selling jewellery at high prices claiming that they are real.
