“Fiji Rugby Union needs about $3 million to organize an IRB World Sevens tournament.”
This was confirmed to Fijivillage by IRB representative Beth Cotter who was observing the Fiji Water Centennial Oceania and International 7s.
Fiji’s dream of hosting an IRB World Sevens Series tournament in 2015 could be put to rest as there are lots of issues which need to be addressed.
Cotter raised concern on the poor turnout for the two day tournament and one of the important issues she raised was the welfare of the players.
Cotter added apart from this there are other things that needs to be considered.
Cotter said a lot improvement should also be done on the facilities provided to the players.
Cotter will meet with the Fiji Rugby Union later next week to discuss issues concerning the Fiji Water Oceania and International 7s.
