It is now clear that the government grant of $3million to the Fiji Rugby Union will fully fund the preparation and participation of the Fiji team in next month's Rugby World Cup.

Rugby House is yet to secure the remaining $2million that was supposed to be part of the FRU's contribution toward the Flying Fijians budget to prepare for the Rugby World Cup.

CEO, Pio Bosco Tikoisuva confirmed that they are still looking for a sponsor for the Flying Fijians and at the moment they are using the $2.6 million which was provided by the government to pay for the players’ allowances and accommodation.

The remaining $400,000 is expected to be released soon.

FRU marketing manager, Tevita Waqairawai said some companies have shown interest to sponsor the Fiji 15's team but time is running out with just a month left for the RWC.

The 30 member Flying Fijians team to New Zealand will be named on the 22nd of this month.

The World Cup kicks-off in New Zealand on the 9th of September.
