The 39th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament is set to become Fiji’s biggest 7s sporting event.
The tournament was launched yesterday with Pacific Beverages coming on board again as the official sponsor.
Chairman of the Organizing committee, Lawrence Tikaram acknowledged Fiji Bitter for their unwavering support and commitment in supporting such an event over the last 39 years.
Tikaram added that the event sits between the legs of the Japan and Hong Kong Sevens and will be an ideal platform to test the very best of Fiji’s finest rugby players over two days of great entertainment of rugby.
This year, 64 teams in 16 pools will battle it out for the top prize money in the Main Cup Competition.
The Golden Oldies will continue to feature in the Classic Category with six teams.
A new added feature in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s this year is the increasing number of the ladies teams to 12 as they are also focusing on their aspirations and goals for Rio in 2016.
The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be held on the 6th and 7th of March.
