The Fiji Rugby Union has named 39 players so far to start preparing for the Northern Hemisphere tour in November, next year's Pacific Nations Cup and the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

FRU Selectors chose the players based on their performance during this year's Pacific Nations Cup, Digicel Cup and last weekend's Colonial Farebrother Sullivan Challenge match between Nadi and Namosi.

FRU Chief Executive, Keni Dakuidreketi says a number of players selected in the preparatory squad are likely to be selected for the Northern Hemisphere tour.

He also said the squad list is likely to increase over the coming weeks. Some of top players named in the squad are, Alefoso Yalayalatabua, Apisai Naiyabo, Iliesa Keresoni, Samu Bola, Viliame Seuseu, Taniela Rawaqa, Vuniani Bari, Rupeni Nasiga, Aca Ratuva, Jonetani Ratu and Waisale Suka.

The 39-players will have their first training camp next Friday in Sigatoka.
