The use of speed radars vary and its use is not confined to just the Highway.
Those were the words of Director Traffic SSP Ramend Raj in reply to questions on whether speed radars were also used in places, apart from the Highway, where drivers tended to speed.
Raj said there are currently 38 speed radars covering the whole of Fiji, with more to be purchased.
National Road Safety Council Executive Director Akapusi Tuifagalele says speed radars must not always be relied on to stop speeding rather it is the prerogative and the responsibility of the driver to drive with caution and not speed.
The Road Death Toll is 56 compared to 51 for the same period last year after four people died in a road accident at Savutaletale, Tacirua on Monday.
