A 34 year old villager of Lami has been remanded in custody and will appear in court on the 29th of this month on charges of allegedly raping a 4 year old girl.
The villager made his first appearance in Suva Magistrates court on Monday, however no plea was taken. He has been told to arrange a lawyer for himself.
It is alleged the incident took place a week ago and the matter was reported to police when the 4 year old victim relayed the incident to her mother.
The girl’s mother was bathing her when she complained of pains in her stomach and other parts of the body. Upon questioning the girl told the whole incident to her mother who then took the matter to police.
