A 34-year-old man was charged with an act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to a 20-year-old woman last month.

This has been confirmed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions who says the accused person allegedly struck the victim with a hammer during an altercation.

The ODPP says there were 20 indictments filed in the High Court with a total of 40 counts of serious offences in June.

The counts for non-sexual offences include 4 for aggravated robbery, 6 aggravated burglary, 1 burglary, 7 theft, 4 acts with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, 3 unlawful wounding, 7 abuse of office, 1 receiving a corrupt benefit, 1 unwarranted demand, 2 breach of trust, 1 obstructing the course of justice, 1 kidnap, 1 breach of DVRO and 1 giving false information to a public official.

In another incident, a 35-year-old man was charged with an act with intent to cause grievous harm to a 53-year-old man - he was also charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft.

A 22-year-old man was charged with an act with intent to cause grievous harm to a 33-year-old man - he allegedly struck the victim with a kitchen knife during an altercation.

In another incident, a 35-year-old man was charged with an act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to a 33-year-old man from his village - he allegedly struck the victim on his head with a cane knife.

There was one incident where a 42-year-old man was charged with one count of unlawful wounding for allegedly stabbing his 28-year-old friend with a kitchen knife.

A 27-year-old man was charged with one count of unlawful wounding for allegedly striking his friend with an alcohol bottle during a drinking session.

In another incident, a 22-year-old man was charged with one count of unlawful wounding for allegedly wounding a 24-year-old man with a stone.

There were 30 people charged with a total of 40 counts of non-sexual offences.

Of the 30 people charged, two were juveniles.

There was one incident where a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were charged with the aggravated robbery of a mobile phone from a 10 year old boy.

There were 20 victims of the 40 counts of non-sexual offences.

There was one incident where a 31-year-old man was charged with the aggravated robbery of a mobile phone and $170 cash from a 24-year-old man in a street mugging incident. A 31-year-old man was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of assorted liquor and $5250 cash from a restaurant.

In another incident, a 36-year-old man was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of assorted liquor, packets of cigarettes and $1049 cash from a 41-year-old victim’s home.

There was one incident where a 29-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were charged with aggravated burglary and theft.

ODPP says the accused persons who are boyfriend and girlfriend allegedly broke into their friends place and stole a television set, radio, sound system, brush cutter and other assorted items.
