The Fiji National Provident Fund still needs to consider whether the $327 million write down of the Fund's assets earlier this year should have been identified earlier.

That is the sentiment of Australian External Auditor from Delloite, Richard Rassi who was hired by the Fund to look at the need to hire an auditor.

Rassi said this is an aspect that the board members need to look at adding that would be the job of the auditor once appointed.

Meanwhile, speaking on the issue of write-offs, Rassi said although it ran into the millions, FNPF managed to have some returns for its members.

Rassi said such write downs of investments are not unusual.
