The 16 districts taking part in the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics meet, known as the FMF Chow Games are aiming for a kick start from today.

32 gold medals will be at stake on the opening day. The finals today will be in the 1500 and 75 metres on the tracks while in the field events, the finals will be in the Long Jump and Cricket Ball throw events from under 9 to under 14 grades. The other events on today will be the heats in the 200 metres and the 4x100 metres.

Meanwhile Cakaudrove/Bua/Macuata is fielding a very strong 140-member squad in this years FMF Chow Games.

Speaking to Village sports, first-timer to the games, Under-13 Vanua Levu 100 metres sprinter Emosi Vaniqi said that although the competititon is new to him, he is ready to take on the challenge.

Meanwhile, Aisea Tamani, who will run in the Under-14 200 metres and relay said that Suva and Ra will be their main threats.

The FMF Chow Games begins at 9 oclock this morning at the Post Fiji stadium.
