30 years of waiting for electricity has finally paid off for the villagers of Navolau in the highlands of Naitasiri as they are looking forward to the official "lighting up" of the village tomorrow.
Navolau village project member, Vereimi Vudileka said they hope this new project will not only help the villagers in doing their small businesses, but it will be of great benefit to the school students in the village.
Vudileka added that even when there was no electricity in the village, Navolau has produced vice principals, teachers, civil servants and the list goes on during trying times.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Works spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said the project has been made a lot easier after the villagers from Navolau gave in $60,000, and Government contributed the rest.
The formal ceremony will commence at 10am tomorrow where the Works Minister Colonel Timoci Natuva will be Chief Guest.
