303 HIV/AIDS cases reported
It told of the struggles of a young mother and her two daughters as they try to make a living despite the mother contracting HIV and AIDS.
In the play, the young mother, played by USP Academic and Lecturer Taomi Qiliho is ostracized by society and friends and has to explain the situation to her two daughters Loloma and Moana, whose father she had left because of his affairs and his violence towards her.
She manages to find friendship, comfort, love and support in Rajesh, whom she got pregnant to, before finding out she had contracted the virus.
Social stigma, religion, blame, family and friends support, self loathing, rejection and HIV education are but some of the themes portrayed last night at the play which was coordinated by UNAIDS and the USP at Civic Centre.
The lead character Taomi Qiliho said their message was clear.
UNAIDS Coordinator Steven Vete earlier said dance, drama and singing is a good medium to show the public the struggle a person with HIV and AIDS goes through.
