It’s a three way battle in the boys division of the Coca-Cola Games between the defending champion, Marist Brothers High School Natabua High School and Ratu Kadavulevu School.
It is expected to come down to the relays this afternoon.
Marist Brothers High School is leading the Boys Division with 9 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze.
Natabua is second with 9 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze while RKS is third with 8 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze.
Adi Cakobau School is leading the Girls Division Legend FM and FM96 medal tally this hour with 13 gold, 13 silver and 9 bronze.
Defending champion Jasper Williams High School is in second place with 8 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is third with 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.
In the 800m final:
Junior Girls 800 metres favourite Maia Ramsden of International School Suva has broken her record again with a time of 2 minutes 16.55secs winning gold.
She broke her own record of 2 minutes 21.93 secs set in the heat yesterday.
This is Ramsden’s second gold medal this year as she also won the 1,500 metres final.
Adi Cakobau School’s Vani Loloma has won silver, Lavenia Kororua has won bronze for Naiyala Secondary.
Vilorina Naibena of Namosi Secondary kept her lead through the back straight pulling away in the last 50 metres to win gold in the 800 metres Sub Junior Girls final beating Adi Cakobau School’s Sereana Serukitoga who had to settle for silver, Siteri Musuvanua of Jasper got the bronze.
Yasawa Secondary School’s Isireli Lagivala kept his lead through the entire race to win his second gold medal in the 800 metres Sub Junior Boys final, Aporosa Luvuvakarua of RKS won the silver and Levi Niunitoga of QVS took bronze.
Aisea Busa of Cuvu College won gold in the Junior Boys 800m finals.
Josua Daveta of Marist took out the silver medal while the Natabua’s Viliame Mae has settled with the bronze.
Jasper’s Tupou Saukalou has won the Intermediate Girls 800m gold edging Adi Cakobau School’s Elenani Tinai who had to settle for silver.
Cilia Kalokalo of Lomary Secondary won the bronze medal.
In the Intermediate boys 800m final, Sigatoka Methodist High School’s Petero Veitaqomaki powered to the finish line from the 50 mark to win gold, Shaneel Narayan of Xavier College won silver, Kameli Sauduadua of RKS has won the bronze.
Meresiana Vukici of Japser has won the gold in the Senior Girls 800m final, Lomaivuna High School’s Maria Noela has won the silver medal, Tavenia Senigacali has taken home the bronze.
Ratu Kadavulevu School’s Vilimoni Tuivuya and Josua Raivanua pushed each other till the finish line to win gold and silver respectively in the 800m Senior Boys final.
Holy Cross College had to settle for bronze after providing stiff competition in the last 75m.
Faletiute Tinapa of Marist has won gold in the Sub Junior Boys Discus, Watesoni Tupati of Suva Grammar settled for silver while Marist’s George Mataitoga takes home the bronze medal.
Kolaia Ivi of RKS won gold in Junior Boys High Jump, Jese Raviyawa of Sigatoka Andhra took the silver medal while Uraia Nawaidranu of Ba Provincial Secondary will take home the bronze medal.
Marist sprinter Keasi Naidroka will not take part in the Senior Boys 200 metres final today as he was injured in the 100 metres final last night.
Queen Victoria School sprinter Ilaitia Waqa is the top bet to win the Senior Boys 200 metres final that will be run this afternoon.
Waqa who is the defending champion of the event finished his heat in 21.18 seconds.
His main rival will be blue ribbon event winner Natabua’s Shane Tuvusa.
The best times in the Senior Girls 200 metres heats were recorded by Alesi Finau of Jasper and Laisani Moceisawana of ACS after the two favourites eased through their heats.
Joseva Tabakaucoro who won the Intermediate Boys 100 metres race last night is the favourite to win the Intermediate Boys 200 metres race after easily winning his heat with a time of 22.58 seconds.
Other top contenders for the title are James Cox of Natabua, Apolosi Nawai of Lelean, Malasebe Tuvusa of Suva Grammar and Netani Jitoko of Richmond High.
Makereta Naulu of ACS is the defending champion of the Girls Intermediate 200 metres and is the favourite as she had the fastest time in the heats which was 24.67 seconds.
Waisake Nakavu of Marist is the favourite for the Junior Boys 200 metres final as he won the 100 metres final last night.
He will be joined by fellow school mate Viliame Reketilako.
Other top athletes to look out for in this category are Jordan Gucake of Suva Christian Community High and Kolinio Radrudru of QVS.
Wainibuka Junior Secondary has scooped two gold medals this morning.
Atama Vunibola of Wainibuka Junior Secondary powered through the final 100 metres of the 3000 metres Open Boys Final to win gold.
Ratu Kadavulevu School’s Viliame Salusalu settled for silver while Mohammed Ali of Kamil College lost his lead but kept going strong to win bronze.
The 3000 metres Open Girls gold medal was won by Camari Adilasaqau of Wainibuka Junior Secondary, the silver medal was won by Vani Loloma of Adi Cakobau School and the bronze medal was taken by Vika Tuilomana of Adi Cakobau School.
Adi Cakobau School’s Mereoni Bonasere won gold in the Senior Girls Shot Put, Gloria Taylor of MGM took the silver medal while the bronze medal went to Avelina Soakula of Yasawa Secondary.
Saint Joseph’s Secondary School’s Tarairi Erasito won another gold medal for her school in the Junior Girls Shot Put in the last hour.
Ilisavesi Maramasoqo and Loata Nabulagi of ACS took the silver and bronze medals.
Katarina Lilicama of Napuka Secondary has set a new record of 42.44 metres and won gold in the Intermediate Girls Javelin.
Tupou Tuiloa of Saint John’s College took the silver medal while the bronze medal has gone to Joana Tabua of Jasper.
The 800m final will start soon while the 200m final will start at 11.40am, the 4x100 metres finals will start at about 12.40pm while the 4x400 metres finals will start at about 2pm today.
