The FORU 7s competition is likely to be a three way race between host Samoa, Fiji and Australia.

Samoa will be the early favorites with most of their IRB 7s seasonal campaigners in their line up in the likes of Lolo Lui, Uale Mai, Simaika Mikaele, with David Lemi and Ofisa Treviranus return to the 7s after playing a starring role at Rugby World Cup along with Alatasi Tupou who was first capped for Samoa Sevens in 2007.

Fiji minus most of the players who lost to Samoa 21-19 in the Pacific Games have a mammoth task in front of them with only Setefano Cakau and Watisoni Votu the old hands in the team.

Australia has named a young side with most of the players below the age of 23.

Fiji’s opening pool game is against Tonga on Saturday at 12.37pm.
