Out of the 15 provinces of Fiji, three have population figures of over 100 thousand people.

In the Second Release of Provisional Findings for the 2007 Population and Housing Census, Census Commissioner Timoci Bainimarama said the Ba, Naitasiri and Rewa Provinces have a significant urban sector.

The highest, the Ba Province, which accounts for slightly over a quarter of the population enumerated during the census, is recorded to have 228 thousand 537 people an increase of the populace by 16 thousand 340 since the 1996 Census.

Indians make up 54.5 percent of the population of the Ba province with 124 thousand 507 people. There are 96 thousand 271 Fijians staying in the province, which is 42.1 percent and the others make up 3.4 percent of the population of the Ba province.

The second highest is the Naitasiri Province, having a total of 158 thousand 793 people, an increase of 32 thousand 152 since the 1996 Census.

In the Naitasiri province, the Fijian populace dominates the numbers at 92 thousand 510. This is 58.3 percent of the total population of the Naitasiri province.

There are 58 thousand and 68 Indians in the Naitasiri province while other races make up 8 thousand 215.

Coming in as the third highest population is Rewa, with a total of 101 thousand 143 people. However, unlike the other two provinces Rewa has had a decrease of 404 people in its population figures since the 1996 Census, which was then, 101 thousand 547 people.

The Rewa province is home for 62 thousand 771 Fijians, 22 thousand 229 people Indians and the others population is 14 thousand 143 people living in the province of Rewa.

Fiji's total population now stands at 827 thousand 900 compared to 776 thousand and 77 in the 1996 Census, an increase in Fiji's populace by 51 thousand 823.
