3 homeless after fire
National Fire Authority said they received a call at around a quarter to seven in the evening and within five minutes the fire crew arrived at the scene however the corrugated iron and timber house was completely destroyed by this time.
No one was at home during the time of the incident.
Initial investigations reveal that the fire could have been a result of short circuit from one of the bedrooms.
Meanwhile, the NFA is concerned with the recent reports of homes fires resulting from incorrect wiring and electrical faults.
Chief Fire Officer, Tupou Saubulinayau made the comment after investigators found out that two home fires over the weekend one in Samabula and one in Nadi, were also caused by electrical short circuits.
Saubulinayau said property owners need to ensure their property is thoroughly checked by an FEA-certified electrical contractor to avoid fires occurring.
The NFA is calling on everyone to replace all worn, old or damaged appliance cords immediately, and not to overload extension cords as well as wall sockets.
This is the second report of a fire over the weekend.
A family of three in Nadi also lost their home in a fire which is believed to have started from an electrical fault as well.
