Three families are now homeless this Christmas following three separate house-fire incidents in the Western division.

In an incident yesterday afternoon at Valele, Ba a concrete and corrugated iron home belonging to a 40year old driver was completely destroyed.

The cost of damage is estimated to be $110,000.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a lit candle whilst the driver's son received minor burns on his hands and legs. 

Investigations continue.

In a second incident at Nadari, Ba a timber and corrugated iron house was completely destroyed in a fire that is believed to have started by a 9 year old burning papers inside.

The cost of damage is estimated to be $35,000 with investigations also continuing.

In a third incident on Sunday at Nativi, Rakiraki a home was completely destroyed in a fire with its contents. 

The Cost of damage is estimated to be $25,000.00. 

The fire is believed to have started when a 13 year old student filled premix in a kerosene lamp. 

Police are once again advising caution with the use of flammable substances and children being told of the dangers of playing with matches.
