Three families are homeless after a fire last night destroyed their home in Delaitomuka Settlement in Lautoka.

The National Fire Authority said they received an emergency call at around 11pm last night and reached the scene six minutes later to discover the house containing three flats fully engulfed in flames.

However, the fire fighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.

NFA said that the public should not hesitate to call them when a fire breaks out, as they will be able to save your property from total destruction.

Meanwhile, NFA reveals that the fire in Votualevu Nadi last Thursday which destroyed a five bedroom house was a result of a child left unsupervised and playing with matches.

Chief Fire Officer, Tupou Saubulinayau said that parents should never leave children unsupervised.
