3 dead after horrific accident
Divisional Traffic Officer Western ASP Livai Gotegote confirms the vehicle smelt of liquor.
The accident in Lovu Lautoka claimed the lives of a 29 year old unemployed man, a 23 year old mechanic of Ba and a 21 year woman who were passengers in the vehicle travelling towards Lautoka at 8.30 on Saturday night.
Gotegote confirmed that the driver and the front seat passenger died at the scene while the third passenger, who was the 21 year old woman, died at the Lautoka hospital.
She was sitting in the back seat with the owner of the vehicle who Gotegote said ran away from the scene but was later found admitted at the Ba Mission Hospital.
He said according to a witness the driver of this vehicle overtook three vehicles at high speed then lost control of the vehicle colliding with a mahogany lamp post.
Gotegote raises concern that people continue to break the law despite awareness being created on not drinking and driving.
