A 3 year old girl of Tailevu drowned in the Namara River while fishing with her aunt yesterday.
Divisional Crime Officer Eastern, ASP Ramesh Chand has confirmed the aunt told the 3 year old to go back home after fishing for a while.
However the girl went near the river and drowned.
Her body was found floating a few hours later.
Police are calling on members of the public to closely monitor their children when they are near rivers and seas.
