The leaders of three Pacific Island countries have confirmed that they will be attending the Engagement with the Pacific meeting next week however five more countries are still in talks with the Fiji Government.

Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Solo Mara confirmed that the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Sir Michael Somare, Kiribati President Anote Tong and the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, Dr. Derek Sikua will be attending the Meeting.

Mara added that at the moment, the Ministry is in talks with five other Pacific countries and are awaiting the confirmation of the level of their participation.

He adds that the meeting agenda is still being developed but adds that it will be kept open to allow the leaders the flexibility to discuss other regional issues they consider important.

The meeting next week on Thursday and Friday in Natadola will also see Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama give a briefing on the progress and challenges of the implementation of the Road Map for Democracy and Sustainable Socio Economic Development as well as open the floor for important regional development issues like Climate Change.
