Three top Suva Grammar School athletes are now eyeing 3 gold medals each to boost the Lions Camp's chances of retaining the boys division title in the Coca-Cola Games.

Leading the onslaught is Isoa Me who is favourite to win the 400, 200 metres and he is the anchor man in the 4 by 400 metres relay.

While the former Natabua High School student's time is outside the Coke Games records, his experience for the past years in winning the junior and inter grades will give him an edge against his rivals.

Me's toughest opponents will be in the 200 metres where he will face Marist's Pio Cerecere and Sila Central's Tevita Nalovo.

He clocked a time of 22.13 seconds while Cerecere came in second in a time of 22.28 seconds.

In the inter-grade, Grammar’s Lepani Naivalu who upset Marist's Banuve Tabakaucoro in the Suva Zone 2 with a time of 10.72 seconds is out to break the current record set by Alfred Smith in 2006 with a time of 11.10 seconds.

Naivalu will battle it out again with Tabakaucoro in the 200 metres.

In the junior grade, first timer Waisale Ledua will lead the charge in the 100m, 200m and 4 by 100 metres relay in the junior grade.

Other big names from Suva Grammar who have been consistent in the past years in winning gold and are in the hunt again are Eroni Cagi, Mataiasi Savou and Onisimo Tagicakibau.

Grammar's arch rivals Marist have also brought in Bola Tafou from the Fiji Athletics team to assist in coaching the boys from Flagstaff.

The 2009 Coca-Cola Games will kick-off at the TFL Stadium on Friday at 8am.
