Three expatriate judges from Australia have been brought in to sit on the Supreme Court in Fiji during its current session.

Court officials confirm the three Judges Ronald Sackville, Judge Keith Mason and Judge Kenneth Handley agreed to sit as Judges of the Supreme Court in Fiji after they were assured that they will not face any consequences from the Australian Authorities.

Court Officials also confirm that the three judges are only to preside over the Supreme Court hearings and will return soon after.

They say the expat Judges were hired to ensure that the independence of the Supreme Court is not questioned and used to delay the proceedings through any challenges which may arise.

The Supreme Court will sit for two weeks.
