The Land Transport Authority has managed to collect around $2million so far from the new road user levy.
Ministry of Public Utilities spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said they are waiting for the money to be transferred to their Ministry after which necessary road works around Fiji is expected to begin.
According to Waqainabete, this money is mainly for road maintenance and government has no intention of diverting this money to other fields.
The road user levy is charged according to the engine capacity which can range from $5 to $4,200.
