A 29 year old laborer of Lautoka who allegedly raped a 19 year old woman over the weekend has been remanded custody by the Lautoka Magistrate court.
Taniela Karuru who is charged with one count of rape appeared in the Lautoka Magistrate court late yesterday afternoon and his case has been transferred to the High court.
The court was told that Karuru allegedly raped the woman when she was returning home from a party at around 4am on Saturday morning.
The case will now be called on the 7th of next month in the Lautoka High court.
